Do-it-yourself well: how drilling is carried out, pipe and filter selection + 51 photos

Water is our everything, therefore it is so important that there is a well or a well near a private house.

The most popular wells, favorably characterized by greater depth, cleanliness, quick production and long service life.

To make a well in the country with your own hands, you will need

Technology and Tools

Water wells, depending on the technology, are drilled or hammered, however, water can be independently extracted only in some ways: using a screw, pump or pump, a rope and a metal projectile.

Auger drilling

For soft and medium-hard soils, a simple method of technology, but a labor-intensive screw method, is suitable. For drilling, you need a screw - a steel pipe with spiral blades, which is immersed in the rock by rotation and periodically pulled out, cleaned of soil and lowered back.

Each time, the pipe is grown to sink deeper and deeper into the ground and reach the aquifer.

There are various auger upgrades, for example, simplifies the tripod process or motorized installations. This method of drilling a well is excellent for supplying water to a house, garden, garden or bath.

Pump or pump drilling

The most popular pumping method for drilling water wells. The scheme of its organization involves the selection of a future well and the arrangement of two pits near the designated place, in the furthest of which water is specially poured, and in the near one, the soil settles.

Next to the water pit is a pump, through the hose, which sucks water from it and feeds it into the drilling rig. Thus, the soil is pre-softened and allows you to quickly reach the aquifer.

As soon as the well has reached the required depth, a polyethylene or polypropylene pipe with a meter-high tip filter in the form of holes drilled by it and a mesh with small cells made of stainless steel wound on top of them is inserted into it.

Hammer and rope drilling

The simplest, universal, but slowest way to drill a well with your own hands is shock-rope.

The universality of this method allows its use on soils of any hardness, replacing only the main projectile.

So, clay soils require a piece of massive metal pipe with a beveled cutting edge at the end, for sand or fine gravel a burl spoon or chipper is more suitable, with a spring-loaded valve welded at the end, and a drill bit on rock formations.

For drilling, it is necessary to install rope equipment: a tripod or L-shaped structure with a block fixed on top. Often used an electric motor with a gearbox or other motorized system.

The technological scheme of the method involves periodic rise and fall of the projectile. Every 50-60 cm the shell is cleaned of soil and continue to work until the required depth is reached.

Pipe and filter

Getting the water to the drill is half the battle, because the task is not only to get to the water, but also to raise it out. For this, a casing pipe is installed in the well in place of the drill, the diameter of which depends on the size of the drilled well and the type of pump provided.

When choosing pipe material, it is better to exclude asbestos or zinc and prefer stainless steel or plastic.

Also, holes are drilled on the pipe in four horizontal rows or vertical gaps are cut through the grinder, and a filter and a fine mesh are fixed at the end.

We organize water supply

It is necessary to equip the completed well, which is also done with your own hands:

Firstly, it is immediately worthwhile to establish a water supply to the surface using a casing and a pump station, which includes a pump, a check valve, a water tank, a long hose and taps.

Secondly, the well must be protected from external negative impact. So, it is mandatory to install a surface bunker or a well house, which will not allow rain water, livestock or foreign objects to enter the well.

Well - the device is simple and unpretentious, which is proved by photographs and videos.

However, in skillful hands, a pipe equipped with a pump and taps can deliver clean water from underground to a bathhouse or a house, providing a constant water supply.
